  • Dubai debt recovery

I’ve just received a letter from International Debt Recovery idrww.com saying they have been instructed by HSBC Middle East to manage a liability of mine on their behalf. The letter asks that I contact them with a suitable means of communication within 7 days. How legitimate are these companies and how successful are they in claiming money’s owed by myself? Thanks, all advice appreciated.

I have also receved several letters from IDR regarding money owed in Dubai from several years ago. I have also now started receiving calls from them. I would like to know how I stand regarding recovery of any debt I may have from when I lived in Dubai; I left the UAE in 2011.
If anybody can help me with info I'd really appreciate some advice.

These are principally debt collection agencies who have been contracted with the responsibility to collect debts. In reality, unless the firm bought the debt, it had be irrecoverable in accordance with the laws of most western countries. Consider a debt management plan, IVA, or even bankruptcy if need be.

Where they get that I owe money to HSBC middle east beats me, my bank account and credit card were cleared before I left in 2016. Anyone got ant ideas?

International Debt Recovery (IDR) specialises in the collection of cross-border debts for banks and other lending institutions.

Traditionally this debt has been hard to recover as non-UK banks struggle to trace residents outside of their own jurisdiction, and often discover that even if they find the individual, the credit agreement is difficult to enforce outside of their own legal system.

In association with fully licensed tracing agents using modern field tracking techniques, we believe that we can find any individual. Once found, we then employ a strong and effective legal strategy to recover as much of the foreign debt as quickly and efficiently as possible.

We break down the barriers normally associated with recovering non-residents’ debt and their failure to adhere to credit agreements. We are so confident of our approach that we are prepared to offer our combined services on a no-win, no-fee basis. We simply earn a negotiated commission percentage on the full amount recovered. A simple and effective scheme, with no risk at all to our clients.

In this difficult global economic climate, recovering foreign debt, which previously would have been written off, is a strategic way of securing profits. IDR is the strategic choice for the future.

I know this has been a grey area for many many years but does someone have any updates on this? I've now had IDRWW send their first letter to my house yesterday. I know they are linked in some way to Coyle White Devine who tried to go down the court route with me in late 2013 but I left the country for a year and they never followed through with any CCJ or Bankruptcy. Is this purely because they can't? or is it the fact that it would cost them too much money to recover nothing back? I'm at the stage now where Bankruptcy might be the best option and I know that it is the worst case scenario. I'm wondering whether or not I should tell them to go ahead with bankruptcy or just let it run its course and hope they back down.

                Any thoughts?

                  Hi DPh
i shockingly received a letter for the first time to my new house.
Previously all other ignored communication had been to my email and text. Still dont know how they found my phone number and now address. I am terribly stressed by this.
                  I believe i owe circa 40k -i legt middle east in 2013.
I will ignore this letter and wait...hoping they think it is wrong address but now sadly has been traced inevitable will happen .
what do you recommend? Contacting them for a reduced plan and cooperating or IVA v Bankruptcy?
                  Please advise
                  J
