  • SAR - issue with redacting my data.

I have submitted a SAR and received one box of data (I have been told there are eight or nine more to come. My question is, who should be redacting my personal data?
my information came in to the satallige office and I have not heard anything more about it until recently when I was told that several members of staff were taking it home on their own time to redact it. I believe part time employees and anyone who can work a black marker pen by the sound of things.
i submitted the SAR on 15/01/18, I have one box of data so far (03/04/2018). I did offer an extension on the 40 days as I was contacted 36 days after the initial request to narrow the field of data but, it is dragging on. is my data allowed to be removed to someone’s home for redaction and who is allowed to redact my data?

Hi, I've just moved your post to it's own thread so it doesn't get lost.

Are they redacting other peoples information off of your data files they are providing to you under the SAR ?
What kind of data is it - financial ? health ? employment ?

Hi sorry, new to the site obviously, just finding my way around.
the data that is being redacted is at best guess, employment. I’m a full time athlete and funded by the sport governing body (I have a contract with them and receive funding). I would assume they are removing reference to other people’s personal details.
i don’t have an issue with this but, I submitted the SAR on 15/01 this year and have received only part of the data, less than 10% by my understanding of what they have printed off. We are now heading towards three months for receipt of this data. My concern is who is seeing my data?
in a meeting recently I was told that several people were ground the redacting and some ‘on their own time’ I take this to mean they are doing this at home but should have asked for clarification on that.

It may be worth a chat with the ICO to get their take on it. If the people doing the redactions are employees of the organisation then presumably they would have legitimate access to the data in any case.

Thanks for the help with this. One more question on this subject...after initial acceptance of my request, and then communication on day 36 after accepting my request, how long do they have to furnish me with all of the data I requested?
as I said, SAR sent on 15/01/2018, request to narrow field of search on day 36. My response to narrow field of search on day 38 from first contact/acceptance and still waiting on the rest of my data. Today is 07/04/2018.
im not sure if I understand the timeframe, I thought they had to supply the data in the 40 day period initially, on re-reading, I think they may only have to start collating my data at 40days?
