Hi,
I need some advice please. I was employed by a school as a Learning support assistant (LSA) almost 2 years ago, however the school agreed to train me and pay for my course to become a Newly Qualified teacher. I eventually got doing duties of a LSA along side teaching in the classroom initially with the support a mentor. I was made to undertake full classroom teachings as part of my course requirements, however when my mentor went on maternity, I had very little support and 100% of my work became that of a fully qualified teacher even though I was training. Couple of days ago, I was informed that due to observations conducted on me and feedback from lead teachers, I will have to resign in 2weeks or go down the route of performance and capability as my performance has been below standard. I strongly feel this is unfair considering there were no formal meetings/support by school authority to address my weaknesses and areas of improvements. I also feel that as I was employed by the school as an LSA and not a fulltime teacher, I can not be dismissed based on my teaching strength because this decision is purely based on fulltime teaching and not any aspects of a Learning support Assistant. Your advice on this will be appreciated
