I have been left an inheritance by my dad my brother is executor but we do not speak which makes things a little difficult I was wondering how my inheritance will be paid out? ie is it paid directly into a bank account or by cheque or can I ask for it in cash....thanks

It would be usual for any legacy would be paid directly into a bank account or by cheque. This ensures a paper trail for the executors to demonstrate the legacy has been distributed.I am a qualified solicitor and am happy to try and assist informally, where needed.

That would be up to the executor. I would expect they would need to have something signed from you confirming receipt of any legacy. If the executor has taken advice then I expect they would have advised him against paying legacies in cash, particularly if the mount is over a few hundred pounds.I am a qualified solicitor and am happy to try and assist informally, where needed.
