  • Travelling to client's site - paid or unpaid time?

Hi, just looking for some advice on behalf of someone I know ....
he s been with the same company for nearly 2 years now , every day he has to travel to the company's client site for nearly an hour, but before he sets off he is required to clock in at the company office and the same on his way back home.

so let s say he is due to start work at 8am in Liverpool , he must be at the company office based in Manchester at 7am to clock in/sign in and when he finishes his work at 8pm he has to travel to the office in Manchester to clock out otherwise he is not paid for full day work .
The company provides transport to workplace for all its employees , he is also free to use his own .
very often after he finishes his shift he has to wait over an hour for a transport because the company doesn't have driver available.

My question is Should he get paid for the time after he clocks in and time spent on travelling back to the office to clock out?
    any advice appreciated !

    thanks

Payment should be from clocking in to clocking out,

Is he not getting paid these times?

paulajayne thank you for your speedy reply!
no, only for hours he worked 8am-8pm, or 8pm-8am ,
if he doesn't turn up at the office to clock out after work, company wont pay him for full day .
If he agreed to travel by arranged transport and then has to wait for it for over an hour could he request to get paid for the time he waited , until he clock out?
      many thanks
