  • SKy telly

I have looked at this before, but not had any joy.

I am not advertising or encouraging anyone to switch to sky, but, if anyone is planning on taking up sky in the next two weeks (before 16th June) give me a shout.

They are re-running their offer where if you 'recommend' someone they upgrade the new customer and the 'recommender' up to sky+ for free.

I really want sky+ but dont want to pay the £100 to upgrade

So i am willing to 'recommend' someone if they should be planning on switching to sky anyway

    Cheers :okay:

          Re: SKy telly

But its not exactly free is it? Got this from the Sky website:

"We will send you the details by email of how to register your, and your friend’s details, so you can receive your gift.
The standard set-up cost of the free Sky+ box for existing customer is £60."

You could always try phoning and telling them you're going to cancel, My boss did this and got Sky+ for £49, which really annoyed me as I'd just paid £99. So I rang up and complained and got a £30 refund.

                Re: SKy telly

Just £99 including installation is what I paid. That was in March of last year. Looking on their website now it seems to be £99 for the box if you buy it online, £149 otherwise, plus £60 for set up.

Best thing to do is ring them and haggle.

Although I've just downgraded my package tbh its really expensive when you're skint! Now the footie season has finished I've done away with the sports channels, which cost £21 a month. Have also cancelled my extra room subscription, saving another tenner. My bill has now gone down from £48 to £19 per month. No doubt I'll have to sign up again when the Premier league starts though

                  Re: SKy telly

ive just checked online, and it would be £99 + £60 to upgrade so £159 total, which has to be paid with a card and i cant even just add to my bill so eff that!

i can handle the £60 installation fee lol

                    Re: SKy telly

or you could buy a sky+ box on ebay for 30 odd quid just stick your card onto the new box

Yes that will work to an extent, but for all the Sky+ features to work you need to run a DUAL satellite line to the box, hence the £60 install fee.

I think its a new dish you need as well, to get all the features.

My brother has sky+, and the antenna on his dish is different to mine.

I had thought about ebay, but thought i might be throwing good money away lol

You need a multi (quad) LNBR (the bit the cable plugs into) and some dual line cable.
Other than that some beer to help with the cable install
