  • Nellies (enaids) Housemove lol

Okidoki, signed for new house today so the move is on.

Got loads to do as you can imagine, so any input or reminders will be greatly appreciated as you know me

Have done the electric, as we are all electric I found the cheapest supplier is in fact British Gas on a saver 7 thing, got a discount for paying DD, don't bite my head off for that please. I know it's naughty but I have to do what's best for us. At the mo it's on a pre payment card and although the chap at EON said it was the same as quarterly billed accounts I think we know different so they have to go, I'll let you know.

Now as for the Broad Band swap, I have a bloody edache second to non. I have been to Edinburgh and Madras and I had trouble understanding a word of what they were saying. I have been on and off the phone for 2 hrs about this and can do more today. I think I may end up buying some carrier pidgeon. More to follow if I survive.

Did on the way home though order a new bed, never had a bed that cost so much before, but by the time me and OH had finished testing it out we felt obliged to buy pmsl

        Hi Enaid,

Wishing you all the best for the move - when are you moving!

Ahhh new bed.... maybe now you will be able to have a great nite sleep, and we won't have our cuppa and chit chat at 3am in the morning.

Don't forget to have the post re-directed in case you win a premium bond, make sure you have your home insurance transferred, advise any of your life policies, banks, credit cards of your change of address.

Ok needing a little help here with my broadband provider.
I have just taken a 12 month contract with BT for line rental.
            I have sky TV
            I am currently with Talktalk.
My son has a PS3 thing which he tells me with the right equipment he can get tinternet on and so leave my PC alone.
So I want my PC down stairs and he can have his stuff upstairs.
I think thats the whole picture, so am asking which of these deals and free stuff etc will be best for me ?
Thank You in advance Enaid x

Sky's interent and phone package is quite cheap. And it worked okay for me, until BT messed my phone line up and disappeared my internet connection forever. Sky was brill till it all went wrong, then I have to say they were worse than useless at putting it right.
Tiscali are okay, they do free line rental as well, which means you can do away with the dreaded BT forever. It's 19.99/month for unlimited calls and broadband. If you don't get the free line rental then it's 28/month, which is still cheaper than BT line rental and no aggro from BT. Downside is all the technical call centres are in the far flung reaches of godknowswhere. But the billing and dd stuff is in UK somewhere. My Tiscali has been great recently. But then Lugger may have a differrent opinion on Tiscali.
              I've heard Orange is crap.
My boss is on Talk Talk for everything and swears by them, never has any trouble.
my niece is on BT home hub thingy, which i believe is okay but quite pricey I think.
AOL is allegedly okay, but expensive.
And that's about all I can think of for now.

                Re: Nellies (enaids) Housemove lol

I am on Talktalk at the mo and to be frank I have had no problems at all. When I have asked for help, I have gone abroad for it lol, but they have always managed to help me and that is a definate plus, cause you know me.
I had to have a BT line at the new place and rang to get one, I had to sign a 12month contract with them. I did check with Sky and they did stress that I couldn't get a phone number through them so I am stuck with BT for the year for line rental.
As we have sky tv I was going to get one of the packages from them, when the lad looked he said maybe the download things were not enough to keep me on mine and him on his PS3 thing on which he does games and hopefully tinternet to keep him off mine.
I do hate BT myself I had a run in with them once and have always said i would never go back to them. The thing is the number 3 package looks fine for us, so if you think BT are ok for BB than I will probably go with them.
I hate British Gas as well, but they turned out to be the cheapest electric supplier in our new area and one of the few that can get us off pre pay meter in a couple of months. Some say you have to be with them 12 month before you can go on quarterly charges.
Get the keys and have the water and elec on today, getting nearer to buying wallpaper pmsl thats when the fun starts.
Thanks for your input Wendy, much appreciated. Enaid xx

Don't bother with wallpaper, take it all off and use Base Coat/Undercoat - Homebase do their own £19 for 5 litres, it smooths the walls so they look like they just been plastered. I've done all the house now except for main bedroom and office, never going to hang wallpaper ever again. Also have got all rooms (except kitchen and bathrooms, which are fully tiled) done magnolia with white woodwork, saves on storing loads of different pots in the garage and touching up is easy, no racking brains as to what colour went where.

Good luck with your housemove enaid, one of the most stressful things you'll ever do in your life, so they say.
I've been with BT broadband for years and have NEVER had a problem with it. No disconnections or speed problems, we tried others but they just couldn't cut it. I know that it's not the same for everyone, but just wanted to let you know. We recently had their home hub and it was so easy to set up, literally plugged it in and voila!
You can't scare me, I have children.

                        Re: Nellies (enaids) Housemove lol

Cheers BTW I think it will be BT tbh.

That's if I get a plug hole to put my PC into am a bit gutted really.
I know the maisonette is an older building but the lack of plug holes is insane. I suppose we should have noticed that when we were first there but we didn't.
We waited nearly 6 hrs yesterday for an electrician to call for a test or something and he never showed, so nerves were definitely tested to say the least.
I had to write a letter to request more plug holes and up to yet all they have said is we can make a single a double and that's all.
There isn't one plug hole in the dining room or hallway which would mean a 20ft extension lead just for me to be able to hoover the stairs. This I find unacceptable, I am sure I am not being picky on this matter as I don't want bloody extension leads and wires all over the place. So bit upset at the mo and told OH if they don't do something about it I am not going. So now he's upset too.

I know what you mean, OH is murder with his weight up and down like a bloody yoyo. He says keep that I may grow or shrink into it lol.
Anyway he is off to Dublin for the weekend come Friday, so he may not have a lot left when he gets back to grow or shrink in to lol.
Decorator is in now he started yesterday. I have plug holes downstairs, but he hasn't done the upstairs yet. Hoping he is going back to do them as he has left some trunking there and not returned our keys.
Not sorted BB out yet but will do soon.
Yesterday sorted new mortgage out and have decided to rent this house out. Had a rental agent round so things look good. On TV this morning it did say the rental demand for housing was growing. I think we all know why and it is very upsetting but it seems to be what is best for us at present.
So going to look at flooring today, I think looking could be costly but hey ho.

Wickes & B&Q have some offers on Floor Tiles
We just spent around £100 on Tiles for our Kitchen which is about 20 sq metres
