If you want to do something brilliant and free in London go to the Sky garden.
    http://skygarden.london/sky-garden
It is much better than the eye and gives brilliant 360 views for miles, all across London. You have to book well in advance on line but it is huge when you get up there with plenty of room. Don’t seem to impose a limit on how long you can stay.
I know the museums are free and I don’t claim to be an expert on kids but they will love this!

Here in County Durham we've got LOADS of stuff to do too.

    There's:
Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

It doesn't matter where your journey begins, so long as you begin it...

I would recommend Snowdonia but two things bother me. One the weather! But also the train is very, very expensive and even though I do not have kids (make a rubbish pm apparently!) I would imagine they would be keen to go on it once they saw it. Nothing worse than that sort of badgering!
I do love the fact that so many museums and galleries are free. We have some great parks as well.
Hey, just for once let’s hear it for the UK!
Actually here is a thought. Considering how expensive rail fares are, should we not try to put pressure on the powers that be to get free travel for school children for x amount of trips during the holidays? Age limits would apply, book in advance etc but a sort of free rail miles for each child type of thing every summer. Say they get, oh I don’t know,100 or 200 free rail miles a year. It is not as if the networks cannot afford it. Hey -it would be a great publicity stunt for someone like Richard Branson. Just a thought. What do you Mums and Dads think?
