  • Northern ireland/UK/ or EU Driving licence

    Interesting dilemma

Having moved permanantly to Northern Ireland from the UK, i had to update my Driving licence/address etc.
Having lost my UK licence i got DVLA to send me a certificate of entitlement.

We have the DRIVER AND VEHICLE AGENCY in Northern Ireland, not the DVLA. They are two totally seperate organisaions. They do not even talk to each other

So yesterday i go into a local DVA office in Belfast, give them all the forms, pay £30.00 and i will get my new licence with a different driver number in about two weeks.

So the question to be asked is will i have two driving licence? One GB one NI as they have different driver numbers.

What happens now to my GB Driving licence??

Your GB license will still be valid (although you would have to produce it if you were driving in a country where it's needed) if you actually keep it ... but you will need to have the NI one (I think) to drive there :noidea:

The issue with the GB licence is the address, i cannot still use my former England address printed on the licence

Re: Northern ireland/UK/ or EU Driving licence

Can't you just tell the DVLA to change the address? I think it's an offence to use a license without updating the address, so that one wouldn't be valid unless you did.

*Btw I was wrong about your first post as it could have read ok - ie I moved to NI from within the UK rather than from outside it. xx

Re: Northern ireland/UK/ or EU Driving licence

DVLA are aware of my new address as they sent my certificate of entitlement to my Belfast address, but on their system i am still registered at my previous address in england

The last thing i need is a £100 fine for failure to notify a change in circumstances

Would it be legal to use it with the certificate of entitlement slipped cheekily inside? :eyebrows: x
