  • Three Songs

If you had to name just three songs that mean something special what would they be and why?

    Mine are ........
Whiter Shade of Pale - Procal Harem
It reminds me of when I was working at keele Uni, being a complete hippy. Every day after work I would go to the students union and put this on (also Knights in White Satin).
    Peaches - The Stranglers
The first time I heard this I felt it! The sound amazed me and it was the start of my punk years.
The Living Years - Mike and the Mechanics
When I heard this it made me cry (it still does) It sums up my relationship with my dad who died 13 years ago. Still miss him loads.

So what are your songs? And why?

    Sally xxx
P1ss on me if you like, but don't try and tell me it's rain!
life is all the more precious when we remember it is a terminal state.

    Re: Three Songs

I have Whiter Shade of Pale as my alarm clock in the mornings....t'is grand.

    Three songs.....thats hard.

    Watching Over You - ELP
cause it makes me cry, has far reaching memories, and I'm having it played at my funeral. Which is nice

    Beautiful Child - fleetwood mac
just has a lot of meaning and is a beautiful song.

Sweet Child of Mine - Guns and Roses
my boyfriend died at 17 (his own stupid fault) and we played it at his funeral, and it also represents a ****ing brilliant period of my life. (brilliant looking back that is, at the time I thought I was in hell hehe)

Three songs...........Noooooooo. that's the sort of thing you think of when preparing for your funeral. My auntie died a few weeks ago and her funeral was quite amusing, she had a year to prepare and her wishes were for everybody to wear somthing pink, her coffin was also pink and she had chosen three songs. They were "Amazing Grace" (Elvis Presley). "Wind Beneath My Wings" (Bette Midler) and "candle in the wind" (Elton John). Not a dry eye in the house.

I would have to chose these three to sum up my life.
'you keep it all in....... The Beautiful south'. Because that's so me.
'Crazy......... Aerosmith' again cos it's so me.
'The drugs don't work'.........The Verve, because all the drugs I have been on don't work.

One other 'It started with a kiss, Hot chocolate'. which was the song being played the first time I met my Mrs in 1982.

        pink coffin ? coooooool

my greatnan had a wicker coffin which we sat and entwined fresh daisies through the wickerwork on the morning of her funeral.

which was nice. no idea what songs she had.

My aunt had all things bright and beautiful, and jerusulam, at hers tho

my funeral I'm having - who put the colours in the rainbow, watching over you and mmmm maybe jerusalum (if I learn how to spell it before I pop my clogs) and I want a wicker coffin too with big daisies, thousands of red tulips in the church, I want to wear white silk and my great nans wedding ring, and take oliver my teddy with me. lol. and I dont want anyone except my kids and parents there. They the only ones who truly love me for me. I'd like a funeral pyre rather than a clinical oven, and I don't fancy being buried alive (or dead).

funerals you can indulge yourself cant you - weddings and all that bother nonsense you are too busy pleasing the rest of the universe to think about what you want. So when I'm dead I can say screw everyone else and do what I want.

        lol oops sorry sal.
