  • Unsure where to post - "storing" someone's belongings

Sorry guys I just don't know quite where to post this!
For the past 5 months I've had my exs furniture, I have made multiple requests for him to come and collect it and he is arranging to, and then not turning up. It's taking up a lot of space and I need to get my home ready for when the baby arrives in July.
I have a friend with a van coming over to help me get rid of some things from the garden and really I would like to get the furniture gone at the same time, on Tuesday. Am I within my rights to do this? I don't want the hassle of a court case over it, I do not have a clue where they are living so taking it to them is not an option, and I have stored it for 5 months already, and have record of the multiple requests made for its collection?

It's a Shame that he has left the stuff . Ask your friend with the vsn if they can help you once more in a month . Write to your ex- stating that you retained his goods for a reasonable period and that he must arrange their collection by Date X or you will dispose of them . Altertatively could your friend with van deliver them to his new address ?

I think if the property is rented the property becomes the responsibility of the Landlord. If the home is soley owned/rented by the op then a letter with proof of receipt as said above is fine.
