The thread above was a carefully worded statement that I wrote to state that I had been suspended and then sacked. I wrote it after being sacked and the 5 years since then is tomorrow. On a cold and wet afternoon in Bury St Edmunds I sat, knowing full well that I was being sacked. I had the first ever branch manager I served under as my representative because I felt the symbolism of it.
I like anniversaries so I guess this post is a thank you to a number of people who have helped me over the years including site team Amethyst and Celestine, Saffy and Enaid, nearly forgot Tools and many many other members who in the initial days of my suspension still gave me support and for those after I had been sacked for kicking my ass when I wanted to help others rather than get a job. I do miss working in the bank especially as I was loving the job towards the end. However, my only connection to the bank now is bank account and staff pension which I paid into up to the point of dismissal.
5 years on and I can say that the grass is different on the other side. I work 2 jobs now to ensure that I continue to pay my bills(I never missed a single payment for anything in the early days when people doubted I would ever get another job).
Being sacked for Gross Misconduct feel like a stigma and the biggest challenge was being able to explain to a potential employer exactly what I had got sacked for(especially as I did not regret doing what I did).
I am forever grateful for the help and support of people on here in the early days and during the 14 weeks in which I was looking for work, despite the many jobs I applied for and did not get.
