  • The DPA gone wrong

This is evidence that the DPA can be taken too far!!

I have called Yorkshire water to ask if they have a dd set up on my bank account or if they have my Hubbys account details, I have passed DPA clearly, in fact the advisor remarked upon how quickly I gave the details, and asked "Is the bank paying the DD in the name or Mrs Puffrose or Mr Puffrose... they can't tell me!!!

They cannot tell me how much they are taking, if the DD is set up on any bank, or the date it is due.. for the security of the bank account that I am paying it from.. however I don't know what bank this is coming out or, when or how much.. I can't ask Mr R's bank as im not the account holder in the bank, and we have an account the child benefit etc goes in to .. I dont know which its from.

    How ridiculous is that??

You should has quoted section 7 of the DPA to the muppet - Its your data your requesting info on, so even though they are clearly trying to protect your data, by not revealing it to you, the data subject, despite you passing security checks, they have in fact, breached the DPA itself lol.

                Hello
Can I speak to Inca please?
                No
                Why not?
Cos she doesn't know who you are
Well,,if you give her the phone I'll tell her who I am
                No,,that won't happen,,she won't speak to strangers
                Why not?
Cos her Mum told her not to.........and the caller promptly hangs up,,convinced a nutter is on the loose

I once had a guy from Safestyle who just wouldnt bugger off about me buying windows.. after a week the call went like this...

                  "Hi is that Mrs Puff?"

                  Yes

                  "Are you available to talk?"

"No im available for panto though!"

"I need to speak to Mrs Puff"

                  regarding

"Important information, may I take your date of birth?"

                  Don't you have one?

"EEERM May I take your date of birth?"

"It's the same day as my birthday.. does that help?"

"This isn't helping me in my job"

Doesn't do much for mine either

"So am I actually speaking to Mrs Puff?"

No, your dreaming and the alarm clock is going to ring in a moment.

"It's an urgent call for Mrs Puff.. I need to talk to her!"

Honey I need Keith Scott, a bar of dairy milk and a hot tub, thats not going to happen either!!

                  he hung up

I think my all time classic, even though I didn't mean it sound or come out the way it did.
My Mum died at 3pm on Sunday 5th Feb 1995.
We (the siblings) were all members of the local Conservative Club (for cheap beer,,not politics)
It was decided we would have the funeral pow-wow at the club in a private room as there are so many of us.
Soooooo..in dribs and drabs the family sauntered in,,those who had already been told did the usual handshake/hug thing...but a bloke called Ray had obviously missed the news..
So...little me hunkers in,,face like severe sunburn..eyes like p***holes in the snow..and Ray joyfully grabs me in a huge bear hug,,kisses me on the cheek as the room fell into a stunned silence..
'Nik,,my darling (says Ray)..don't see you here often on a Sunday,,special ocassion? Oh and by the way,,been meaning to ask 'Hows your Mum??'
and through the stunned silence I heard a voice that was mine graciously say 'Dead,,How's yours'??
That was a conversation stopper of biblical proportions.

I was going to post something here.

But then I realised that there is a one in ten billion chance that I might inadvertently breach the DPA.

                        So I won't.

My brother in law's late partner died a few years ago very unexpectedly, understandably my brother in law was distraught and went to one of his brothers homes.. they were all sitting about trying to comfort each other when his sister in law arrived and looked at them. They were all glum faced and she exclaimed "OMG look at you all with faces like smacked a rses, Who died??"

Andy looked up and said "My Jason."
