I think you are tremendously brave. I bet at the time some of the behaviour felt as if he cared for you and was jealous .Until the violence started. But to come to that last decision to go must have taken real guts.My sister has been recently involved with a control freak who also got a lot of money out of her over 4 years. Everybody told her he was trouble but she thought it was love. The last straw was when he dumped her on the first night of a holiday abroad which she had paid for . He then kept her trapped in the hotel for a week until the flight home. And even after that she was making excuses for him. Oh and also he gave her a nasty disease!
