Re: I wish to complain to Site Owener please!
Sorry for hi-jacking your thread but I couldn't resist telling you about my amazing and much loved dog. Sorry if it bores you but I love my Jazzy and can't help sharing his story with you!!!
We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (with a breed name that long its not surprising that breed isn't an LB status!!!) called Jazzy - short for Jasper. We adopted him when we was 8 months old from the national CKCS rescue centre in Chelmsford.
He is now 5 years old. He was abandoned by his old owners as they said looking after him was too much effort as they have 4 children to care for (some people should never be allowed pets in the first place!!) He had obviously been very ill treated by his previous owners bit despite that we knew he was an amazing little dog who just needed time, love and the right owners - and we knew we could help him. We think the previous owner's children must have really tormented him very badly and pulled him about and hit him. He was a nervous wreck when we got him, he was very frightened of our teenage daughters and when we gave him his new toys he didn't know what to do with them. He didn't know how to play or like being cuddled or fussed over. He even used to hide his food bowl and growled if we came into the room when he was eating out of fear we were going to take his food away from him. We knew that we needed help in dealing with Jazzy's issues in the right way and it was actually us that needed training, not Jazzy. So we contacted our local vet and he gave his the number of an amazing dog behavioural specialist and trainer and he was amazing!! We had a 2 hour session with him and covered everything from food to behaviour and we only needed one session, although we did have phone support free of charge (it was the best £75 I have ever spent!!) We followed his advice and we were gentle but persistent and Jazzy is now one of the most adorable, gentle mannered, affectionate and soppy dogs I have ever known.
We think that his was given up because after a couple of months of Jazzy coming to live with us the vet discovered both his back knees needed surgery as the ball joint kept slipping out of place. This cost well over £3000 to sort out - luckily I had taken out insurance for Jazzy the day we got him and because he had been checked by our vet as soon as we got him and no issues were noted then (thank goodness!!) we were fully covered by the insurance. He also developed a skin allergy and we had to have specialist testing done, which cost over £1000 as the samples were sent to a specialist allergy testing lab in America. He now has on going medication that costs about £150 a month, which is also covered by insurance - I thank our lucky stars I took out very good insurance policy which covers life long conditions, with no time limit (although he is "only" covered up to £6,000 per condition)
We got Jazzy because I wanted another baby but sadly I am unable to have anymore children, so I emotionally blackmailed my hubby into letting me have a dog instead. My hubby was adamant he was not going to clear up after Jazzy, that he will never be allowed on the furniture and absolutely under no condition will he ever sleep in our room and certainly never ever in a million years will Jazzy ever be allowed to sleep on our bed. Hubby managed to last about 3 hours before totally failing under Jazzy's spell and has been well and truly wrapped round Jazzy's paw ever since!! They even sit and watch TV together (especially the footy) and there is nothing more amusing that listening to my hubby explaining the rules to Jazzy (well at least I'm pared the torture of having to watch it - Jazzy even seems to quite like it and barks when the right team gets a goal!!) The other day My husband told me I look like a bit like Jazzy, but Jazzy's eyes are more beautiful than mine (and yes, said hubby now walks with a limp!!)
He even calls Jazzy poppet, sweetheart and darling - after 20 years of marriage I'm lucky to an affectionate grunt out of him (Hubby - not Jazzy)!! Then again Jazzy is far more obedient that my hubby and doesn't leave dirty washing over the bedroom floor, so I guess I prefer Jazzy too!!
Couldn't resist posting a picture of Jazzy and a picture that shows just how much of a softy my hubby is when it comes to Jazzy (just remember the "he is never sleeping on out room rule......)
