  • Our life in his hands

The smirky grin gives it all away, he's no doubt thinking in my little red magic box I have more ways of screwing the poor to
Keep the rich in the manner which they have become totally accustomed to.

Comments please on how todays joke affects you and yours.

Well I reckon he'll do sod all as usual, apart from his Robin Hood impression, ie: rob the poor to give to the rich.

I am sick to bloody death of being attached for being a stay at home mum!! I am fortunate that hubby has a good job and we do not live on benefits, however its seems that mums are 'frowned on' if they do not work!!

We are not wealthy and have to live within a budget.

I (and other mums) are trying their hardest to raise the future generation of this country. GIVE US A BREAK and pick on someone else!!!!!

Mums should be given all the help possible to make sure that children get a stable, safe and loving upbringing. Nobody can do that better than a parent. Nurseries, child carers are wonderful but not a substitute for a parent.

No ones attacking you, we all admire mum's that stay at home at look after their children, me especially, my mum actually went back to work when I was three months old, I was brought up by minders and so on, she worked from 7 am till 7 pm because my dad's wages were not enough to keep the house going, there were no benefits, you either worked or didn't.

The trouble is this country cannot afford to keep giving money to everyone, somethings got to give and personally I think that child benefit should start to be phased out, sorry but that's just my opinion.

The government needs to also do more to encourage enterprise. Kick start the economy. Banks are not lending money to businesses when they should be. This has been reported in the press however what are the government doing to put pressure on banks to change their culture?!

Oh I couldn't agree more, we are a small business, a year (or maybe less) ago we applied for a £1k overdraft, just for those awkward times, and was told, sorry we are not doing them anymore, but when you see the adverts and the blurb they are saying that they are lending.
Can't get my head round it at all.

So far that's all I wanted, petrol and beer .....I would add but not in the same glass!!

Oh fab you'll have to sup a 1,000 pints to save £1k - wonderful, so the country's going to the dogs, but all the beer drinkers will be too ****ed to care about it.

I think how the country is doing and how it affects each individual is different. Personally, when I hear that there are no jobs around I think that is a load of crap however, I should add that where I live the city is not always as badly affected as other areas because of the university and the tourism that it brings. If I lived elsewhere then maybe my perspective would be different and I am sure it would be but as I said, I am lucky in terms of where I live that there are jobs going albeit part time but there are jobs.

Not watching the budget, I have Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse on.. and I must say Proffesor Von Drake makes a damn sight more sense than half the politicians

As for jobs, maybe if we stopped with the call centres in India and the Phillipines we might be able to employ more here.. and now there is this stupid plan that kids have to be in education or apprenticeships until they are 18.. whatever happened to applying for a job at the bottom and working up??

I don't care if they are Labour, Tory Lib Dem or Monster Raving Loony party, they all live in Laa Laa Land, but I am voting Monster Raving Loony.. mainly cos I want to see Obama's face when he shakes hands with Colin the Duck!!

Much like you Sapphy, we have a small business too and were encouraged to hear that the corporation tax is coming down (albeit only 1%) but only in April 2015. Funny how they put things up straight away but only offer cuts few years later.

As for cartoon characters - Road Runner aka George Osborne? lol, I have a warped imagination!

Have to agree with you Ruby, how come they can implement these things overnight when its for their good and take a couple of years when its ours ?

Re cartoon characters, I'd just like to compare them all to one thing .... Looney Tunes

                              Date published: 20 March 2013
The Chancellor, George Osborne, has delivered his fourth Budget. Read on for the key points.
                              Duty
Alcohol duty will continue to rise annually by 2% above inflation, but beer duty will be cut by 1p a pint. The proposed 1.89p fuel duty increase, scheduled for September, has been scrapped.
                              Income tax
The personal allowance for under-65s will rise by £560 to £10,000 in 2014/15.
                              Pensions
The single-tier pension rate of £144 a week will be introduced in 2016, rather than 2017. As a result, from 2016/17 the ability for members of a defined benefit occupational pension scheme to contract out of the State Second Pension will cease.
                              Social care
The amount that consumers must contribute to long-term care before the government steps in will be capped at £72,000 from April 2016.
                              Housing
From 1 April, the Help-to-Buy scheme will give people who have a 5% deposit a 20% interest-free loan on homes worth up to £600,000. The qualifying period for people looking to purchase their home under the Right-to-Buy scheme has gone down to three years.
                              Childcare
Working families will benefit from a 20% tax relief on childcare costs, offering an annual saving of £1,200 per child under 12. The scheme will be phased in from autumn 2015.
An additional £200 million will be provided to increase childcare support in Universal Credit, with the commitment being introduced from April 2016.
