  • Just a Heads Up - Petrol Protests Sat 15th Dec

Maybe the wrong place, but heck here is as good as anywhere.

There has been reports in papers over the weekend, and apparently on Sky News this morning that there are going to be fuel protests/blockades going on at refineries again. The reports are saying that it is happening on Saturday from 10am.

I am hearing reports and rumours from elsewhere (that I sort of semi trusts) that the protests could well be taking place from Wednesday.

So if you are running a little low on fuel, then it may be an idea to go and get filled up.

And lets hope that the protesters actually get somewhere this time!

      Re: Just a Heads Up

I have contacted the organisers with a view to getting full details, as I feel this is a consumer issue and shoudl be publicised.

Please note that it is only a Protest, and the organisers want to make it clear that it is NOT a blockage.

If I get further details, I will post on this thread

          The official release

The following statement is released on 10th December 2007 at 10:15Hrs

Transaction2007 have decided to release the date and time of protest action earlier than scheduled. This is to enable the motorist and public to better prepare themselves for the coming action.

A date of Saturday 15th December 2007 at 10:00am has been decided for protest action. This date was decided by members as the best possible to enable those who would normally be working during the week to attend. This action will be initiated at a refinery or storage depot somewhere near you. Anyone wishing to support action is requested to make your way there at the alotted time. Transaction again wish to emphasise the importance of legal protesting.

            Hey Delta,

I have an invite by somone on facebook to join the protests,

            Dear Liam,

Last week I was informed that a group called Transaction 2007 had plans this weekend to release a statement announcing some kind of protest action relating to the price of fuel in the UK. I have just read a statement published on their web site in which they have confirmed that they are going to organise legal protest action, and that it could begin as early as this Wednesday.

I have got more on the PetrolPrices.com blog about this:

            http://www.petrolprices.com/blog/petrol-price-protests-planned-for-this-wednesday-86.html

We will of course be following the story as it unfolds next week to keep you informed. If you want to express your opinion about the plans you can do so on our blog, as always, by leaving your comments and voting in our polls.

            Regards,
            Brendan

Why not just go to the source of the info at

Transaction2007 - Working for the UK Road Haulage Industry & 20 Million Motorists

Can I also point out that the ONLY reference to this Wednesday on the site, is that Wednesday was when they were going to release the information regarding the protests. But the information was released today instead.

They do not mention any action or protests happening on Wednesday and it seems that other sites have just read something else into it.

Reduce fuel duty. REDUCE fuel duty?!

Let's just think that one through shall we?

When was the last time you drove more than 20 miles, without getting snarled up in traffic AT LEAST once? When was the last time you drove on the motorway and were able to do 70mph all the way, in the daytime?

The roads are how they are, DESPITE fuel costs being so high. If we lower fuel duty, how much WORSE is it going to be? Also, are you utterly ignoring the warnings of scientists all over the world saying that we're destroying our own planet with greenhouse gasses? Where do you think the major source of greenhouse gasses IS?!

Reduce fuel duty so that our children and grandchildren can have nowhere to live. Great.

                              Makes me SO F*(&^*&%&^% ANGRY!!!!

                              THINK before you SPEAK!!!
