  • local authority planners...you gotta laugh.

Went up to my local civic office today for an "informal" about the drawings i want to submit for an extension. Bearing in mind i have gone outr of budget to try to keep it sympathetic with other properties in the vicinity....

" It all looks ok in principal, but you may consider ammending your drawings to make it look more like an extension"....

    Give me strength.....

Sapph....i have tried to be sympathetic with the roof line, bringing it in with the existing roof and pricing to have the new roof tiles specially made to match....

We had a similar problem a couple of years ago, it go to the point where we were going back and forth so much it drove us both barmy, so we shelved the idea and had a conservatory built across the back of the house.
We've got a garage on the side of the house, our neighbours have all got around 6 feet at the front as garage then toilet and shower room built, or a spare room, we've done similar and turned part of ours into a utility room, next year we're adding another toilet and shower room, but from the front it looks like a garage.

Lots of folk have done similar by me. I have tried to mirror the property down to the last brick, so it looks like all the other houses, but bigger. Even the bay window downstairs is mirrored across to the new-build, and all the materials have been sourced to make it blend in.

My designer is going to have kittens tommorow..... yet MORE drawings, lol!
