Bargain Fuel After Decimal Point Error

    Saturday, April 2 01:13 am
    (c) Sky News 2011

Motorists could not believe their luck when an error with a decimal point meant fuel was on sale for just 12.9p a litre at a supermarket.

Drivers were able to fill up for £4 a tank for around two hours before the normal price was reinstated.

As word got out, long queues formed for the card-payment fast-lane pumps at Asda's store in Rooley Lane, Bradford, prompting police to arrive at the scene.
Several customers even brought jerry cans and other containers to fill.

An Asda spokeswoman confirmed that around 50 customers took advantage of the rock bottom price on Wednesday.

She added that the mistake had been down to human error, made when staff programmed the computers for the card machine pumps.
