  • Argos returns

    What a day!

    My hubby bought me a new Colonel Veneer Coffee table today, so it matches what we already have in my lounge, the last coffee table was same colour on the edges but mainly glass, but I got very paranoid in case anyone fell against it or so.

    I will post a piccie link of the coffee table below, but anyway, he opened the box this afternoon to check it and its quite heavy too, well it is for me at over 20KGS.

    I thought WOW, that is perfect, so as taking off the cardboard corners, we noticed one side of it were damaged, all the rest just perfect.
    How disappointing.

    We could not get one at our local one until 5th Jan, so we travelled a little further to Newport Gwent and they had one left!!

    So hubby rang the tel number on the receipt, but it seems they have closed for the day now, but she did say when we take it back they will just exchange for another, my hubby explained that it was the only one left, so she went off to check if others were in elsewhere just in case.
    Only she did not get back, the line went dead and that was that.
    Ringing these 0845 numbers cost and it already taken a few attempts before he did actually get to speak to someone.

    Sooooooooo, I am hoping impatient as I am, there will be another one in the same maybe elsewhere in another Argos store, and this time I have a good mind to get this checked in the shop before leaving the store, its too heavy to keep going back and forth.

    Prior to buying in Argos, we did look elsewhere in other furniture stores but none taken my fancy, i am a fussy so so lol.

    Its actually a lot nicer looking in reality, oh apart from the damage of course, and it looks smaller in the advert too.

    Well, I have managed to reserve another, 1 left in an Argos store, just a little further out, but not that far really, so will take this one back the same time, go to the customer query dept of refunds, then explain, and tell them we have also reserved one in exchange, with just only 1 left in that actual store, going to go for it, and check it while we're there.
    Will be doing this tomorrow.

      Good Luck Di is always a pain when something goes wrong.
      If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.

          The latest is, my hubby taken the other coffee table back this morning, and as on my above post we ordered one in reserve.

          The lady checked the table Dai returned and also said she would not pay out all that for that damage either, she seemed to be very helpful according to hubby, then the one in reserve came through, and hubby suggested it would be best to open and check that one too.

          Its a good job too, because that one was also slightly damaged, and that was the last one there.
          Unfortunately I will have to wait now if I want another the same, so instead the lady refunded the amount back to Dai's debit card.

          Arh well, never mind, think I will keep looking and see what's about in the sales before the rises of VAT on the 4th, so got until then to look I suppose.

          However, I checked on Homebase website and they have the same one as I like there, and the same price, but again not in stock for collection or delivery.

            OMG.......I now got one!!!


            Hubby said he was nipping out, he was a little while so I thought he's probably popped into see his parents......

            Anyway, he came back with that actual coffee table, but travelled further out for it, bless him, and yeah its immaculate, not a mark on it.:cancan:
