Quick question: Do you have to be born IN America to run for president?

lol I'm only asking because I remember Arnie saying he would run for president one day!

Re: McCain V Obama, who would you vote for

Well I've weighed up the situation and have made my decision.

My vote would be for Obama.

      1. He's younger
      2. He doesn't seem to be a war monger like McCain.
      3. Everytime you see him, he looks clean, tidy and well presented (that means a lot in my book)
      4. Bill Clintons supporting him.
      5. I like the way he speaks.

Ok call me shallow but I always believe that you should go with gut instinct and my gut tells me he is the right man for the job. I've probably got a few more reasons as well and will post them up when I think of them.

Obama it is then. I think the right bloke got in to be honest, Mcain appears to have a look of distrust (if there is such a thing) and I wouldn't trust him as much as I could kick him.

I hope all you Obama supporters realise he is in favour of the death penalty.

John McCain McCain supports the death penalty for federal crimes. He has voted to prohibit the use of racial statistics in death penalty appeals and to ban the death penalty for minors. He also supported legislation to allow the death penalty for fatal acts of terrorism abroad and has said he would consider further expansion of capital punishment for other crimes. McCain disagreed with the June 25, 2008 U.S. Supreme Court decision outlawing the execution of child rapists.

Barack Obama Obama has written that he thinks the death penalty "does little to deter crime." He supports capital punishment in cases in which "the community is justified in expressing the full measure of its outrage." While a state senator, Obama pushed for reform of the Illinois capital punishment system and authored a bill to mandate the videotaping of interrogations and confessions. Obama disagreed with the June 25, 2008 U.S. Supreme Court decision outlawing the execution of child rapists.

Barack Obama says he is for the death penalty but he is also pro-let's not execute the wrong guy.

                  Let's hope he doesn't.

No. the qualifications for US president is that you must be a natural born citizen of the united states (i.e. not a naturalised citizen). The rules for citizenship are complex, and would run through one parent (His father being a kenyan citizen) . the argument against Obama being a natural born citizen is that (at the time of Obama's birth) in order for the mother to pass citizenship, she needed to have been resident in the US for a certain period after the age of maturity, but the mother was too young and so could not have been resident in the US long enough to pass citizenship.

All this is rediculous, the court case alleged Obama was born within the Teritory of Hawaii, and as a matter of law the Teritory of Hawaii is part of the continental united states and a child born in the continental united states is a citizen of the United States.

lol I'm only asking because I remember Arnie saying he would run for president one day!
arnie isn't a natural born american citizen, and isn't eligable to become president or vice president. There was an attempt to amend the consititution, and it failed.

A lot of parallels are being drawn between Kennedy and Obama. The speech writers of Obama certainly seem to draw on that. "Time for change". Obama has given a speech that thing may not be done in the first term of his Presidency(kennedy like in that his was the "first thousand days"). Unity of party and across the divide like Kenendy.
I hope he does not end up like Kennedy did....."what if...?"

Seriously, Apart from not giving a toss, and also being shallow (why spoil the mood? lol) I think I would have to go with Obama. There is something about his sincerity towards the American people. He looks as if he will get things done over there. He is young and fresh faced. He is also supports the death penalty. |Thats all I can say really, politics not my thang unfortunately. (or fortunatley whichever way you look at it) and I havent been following full news coverage either..only snippets...

Give him a week and he'll be pictured in a casual suit at a press conference with a coffee mug featuring his children's picture whilst insisting the press should respect his family's respect for privacy.
