Always check the fixture list! In Fantasy Premier League a little knowledge can go a long way and one of the most important - and easy to find - sources for this is the humble fixture list.
In fact it's essential reading and not just for the forthcoming gameweek, but two, three or even four ahead.
The reasons for this are obvious but worth mentioning anyway.
A team playing at home is generally more likely to win than a team playing away. And, in very simple terms, it follows that a Fantasy Premier League team comprised of 11 men playing away are less likely to score points than 11 at home.
Wins in football, of course, come from goals and assists, which equal points. Clean sheets help too of course, and they get you points as well.
Put simply, you want your best players taking on opposition where they're most likely to score points.
And how do you know when your expensive and prolific striker will be coming up against a leaky defence? The fixture list of course.
A handy tool to gauge the current strength of each side in the league is the form guide available.
For instance, the teams displaying the second, fourth and fifth best form at the moment: Everton, Bolton and Wigan.
It plainly doesn't guarantee success but a bit of forward planning combining the fixture list and form guide cannot hurt.
For instance, Manchester United will soon jet off to Japan for the FIFA Club World Cup. That means none of their players will feature in Gameweek 18 - big news if you rely on Ronaldo or Rooney to bag your points each week.
On the flipside, a little later in the season, in Gameweeks 20 and 21, both Arsenal and Man Utd play consecutive games at home.
So, a selective dabble in the transfer market each week guided by forthcoming fixtures and form can maximise the chances of picking up points more regularly. With that in mind, which players make some appeal for Gameweeks 16, 17 and 18?
One of the Barclays Premier League's form teams, Fulham, have a favourable run of games over the next three gameweeks. Their success of late has been built on a solid defensive platform with just two goals conceded in four games. At 4.6m, defender Brede Hangeland must represent amongst the best value in the game.
Hull have been one of the great success stories of the season so far, and though their next three fixtures bring a range of challenges, two of those games are at the KC Stadium. Striker Marlon King has proven he can score goals in the Barclays Premier League with four so far and has featured in all but one game for the Tigers. At 6.1m he merits a play in anyone's team as a third striker at least.
A look at the league table shows Chelsea appear to be enjoying life more on the road than at Stamford Bridge with seven wins from seven games. They've only conceded one goal in those seven matches and that was on September 13, to Robinho no less. At 6.5m, Ashley Cole is the cheapest of Chelsea's regular back four and has just returned to first team action after a spell out injured. Two of the club's next three fixtures are away from west London, so Cole could reward a purchase

Re: Legal Beagles Fantasy Football League 2008
The above is sound advice Peaky, you might want to use some of it yourself, your team is rubbish and so far this week 17 points is all they have. As I said at the beginning of the season 'IF YOU WANT TO BE ON TOP OF THE LEAGE AT THE END OF THE SEASON, JUST COPY MY TEAM'
'YEEEEE HAWWWWW' 63 POINTS THIS WEEK.Borrow money from a pessimist -- they don't expect it back.
