    Yep I just hadnt read Natwests charges that closely before.

    How do you mean the referral charges and unpaid items don't go together. Say if they pay one taking you into unauthorised OD, then don't pay one - do you not get a £38 and a £30 and a £28 (maintenance) charge?

      If they bounce one item they are unlikely to pay another one and charge a referral charge. The likelyhood is they bounce all or pay all and therefore charge the unpaid or referral charges, the maintenance charge bit is correct though, ie £28 per charging period. Of course, you could change the statement date to coincide with your pay to cover charges

        Or they could stop charging such ridiculous amounts of money for an automated process ?

          Due I need to say OFT test case? Do I need to say "still lawful"? Amethyst, I understand what you are saying but I do not want us to go into the cause/consequence argument as I don't disagree with what you have written.
