The FOS board minute summaries for the last 18 months have recently been published and make for some interesting reading.

In particular is the December 08 minutes which mention the prospect of the FOS signing up to the Freedom of Information Act.

d) Freedom of Information (FOI)

The chief ombudsman confirmed that second-round consultation was imminent and that the Service may be one of the additional bodies that could come under the FOI Act. He added that longer term plans had included this possibility and some measures had already been taken, such as the publication of board meeting minutes on the website. The board agreed that preparations should be expedited.

smashing. although most of my requests seem to get thumped back with costs limits and information not helds at the moment. Shall have to have a look through the rest of the minutes, their consultation responses can reveal some nuggets of info too, so even though formally they won't release anything they do let things out between annual reports.

I'd hope that getting statistical information on complaints from the FOS would be fairly straight forward.

Someone else has been trying to find out more about the prospect of the FOS and FoI
