My husband sadly passed away 3 weeks ago and I am busy sorting his finances, including his car finance. He took the agreement out over 36 months and when I notified the finance company they suspended payments. However when I checked he'd made 17 monthly payments and I was told had he made half the payments I could have simply asked the finance company to take the car back under the voluntary termination clause.
I have told them I am considering my options, so can I simply tell them I wish to keep paying until I make a decision and them once I have paid half the agreement, ask them to take the car back under the voluntary termination. The HP agreement has not been cancelled yet. This would save me a lot of hassle and I feel they suspended payments straight away as they knew we had not made half of the payments, but fell short by 1 monthly payment.
