Why register my interest now?

Registering your interest now means that you’ll be part of the thousands of people coming together to get the cheapest energy possible – the more of us who show we’re interested now, the cheaper the deal will be for everyone. The Big Deal – who we’re partnering with on this campaign – will go to energy companies and tell them, for example, “there are 100,000 38 Degrees members who want to switch” and that gives us huge negotiating power.

This is why it’s worth doing right away – so we can all get the best deal possible. It doesn’t commit you to anything.

Do I have to switch if I register my interest?

Registering your interest allows us to use our numbers to negotiate a great deal with energy companies. There’s no commitment to switching.

Once the deal’s negotiated, you’ll get an email letting you know what it is and you can decide if you want to make the switch. Hopefully there will be tens of thousands of us switching so it’s a really powerful way to do it and send a clear message to the Big Six.

Can I join the deal after it's been struck?

Yes. If you are a 38 Degrees member the deal will be available even if you didn’t register your interest. But the more of us that register our interest now, the better the deal will be. Signing up now does not mean you are in any way obliged to take the deal.

When does the deal close and will you be doing another?

This will be decided based on which energy provider offers the best deal – so please check back. There may be another switch in the future – but there’s no guarantee.

How many people can switch?

Hopefully tens of thousands of us will all switch at once. So it might be that one company takes 5000 of us, another company takes another 5000, until all of us are switched!

When will I know who the energy provider is and how much it will cost?

As soon as The Big Deal have negotiated the best bargain they can for us, we’ll all get an email letting us know that the negotiation is done and it’s time to switch. Then we’ll all be able to look online at the deal and compare it others on the market, and decide whether to switch.

Amazing. This week over 50,000 38 Degrees members have said they’ve had enough of the big six energy companies taking us for a ride and thinking we won’t do anything about it.

Companies like Scottish Power and EDF can brush off bad press, scandal and customer complaints – but what they can’t handle is losing money. Their business model relies on us thinking there’s nowhere else to go. Let’s show them how wrong they are.

The tide’s already turning. Last year huge numbers of people took their business away from the Big Six. And there are millions of us – just imagine the impact we could have if lots of us moved away from them at the same time.

So now 50,000 38 Degrees members have said they’re up for a better deal for their energy – and now the negotiations are on! Together 38 Degrees members are bargaining for a people-powered deal with a better energy company.

The more people that join us, the better – and cheaper – the energy deal we’ll get.

Plus, for every one of us who switch, 38 Degrees will get £12.50 to fund our campaigning together
