  • Marlin/Reston Solicitors letters

I have just received a letter from Reston Solicitor, acting for Marlin, requesting for payment of a debt that was owed to HSBC since 2007. However, the debt went into default in March 2010. The outstanding amount stands to be £2900, as it appears on the letter from Reston.
Reston gave me up till 24th Nov. to respond otherwise will institute a claim against me at the Court.
Please, what are your possible advices.

    Cheers!

    N.B!
Reston's letter does not mentioned the original creditor, date of default. It only mentioned the £2900, for Marlin. I have not even received any communication from Marlin, so I may not even know who Marlin is. However, I presume it may be HSBC, because they are the only creditor I know for sure I owed and defaulted in the past!!

    Good morning, welcome to LB,

Marlin is debt purchaser part of the Cabot group of companies and have bought the debt from the original creditor.
Was this a loan, credit card or current account/overdraft?
