  • Insurance given hire car and been hit when not in car

I have been given a car through a insurance claim whilst my car gets fixed. I have noticed a scratch and dent on the back bumper this morning.
I know I haven't done it and also a van down the road (that is owned by a drunk) has a scrape and the car paint on.

I can't get hold of the insurance company as closed Sunday. I am worried I am going to get a huge repair cost for the damage from the car hire company. Should I give the insurance the reg of the van down the road and confront the owner ?

I'm abit confused with my legal rights and don't want to be liable for the damage and costs.

When you took out the hire car did you take the optional extended extra damage sustained covering for any damage?

When i hired a car over the weekend i paid an extra £10.00

Worth its weight in gold as i put petrol in a diesel car and walked away not owing a penny

You just cannot go about making accusation on another person unless their was a witness to the evennt such as this

All I signed was the paperwork for the damage on the vehicle already.
I had a phone call from europecar asking me to go into sign some more paper work as they hadn't done that on drop off. I was going on holiday so couldn't, the lady on the phone didn't seem bothered I couldn't sign it. I offered another day and basically ended the call. I don't think I ever got asked for the extra cover.

You need to check what the hire car cover you have exactly before we can continue

        Anything else is speculation

Update after you have called the hire company
