Trial witness knows a member of the jury

If a trial witness knew a member of the jury, and didn't confess till after they finished giving their testimony, but while still in court, would they be guilty of a crime, if so, how long before it is reported before time ran out for someone to act upon it?
The jury was replaced upon knowledge of this, but wondered if it was still an offence.
Also the jury member did not confess to knowing the witness at all.

I don't think the witness has done anything wrong.

I'm not aware of any specific offence committed by the juror, however, whilst not an offence it is a contempt for a juror to engage in any conduct that would impede prejudice or interfere with the effect administration of justice and had this not become known they may have been in contempt had they not drawn the fact to the judge's attention at the first available opportunity.

What the first available opportunity was would be entirely fact dependent.
