A few dollars? Where do you live?

We are based in the UK so we may not be much help if you are in the US, Canada, OZ or NZ (can't think where else they'd use dollars).

      Hi welcome to LB,

Is this a UK Barclaycard account?
What does your credit file show exactly? It should show which company
owns the account now. Is it " flagged up as defaulted?

Yes it is a UK account I have
I only found out when I tried for finance
It come back with s default
So I joined a credit site
I thought it had been paid up my mistake
It's in red as a default on my file
The company name at the front is
        MKDP LIP
I really would like to just pay it off and clear my file back to green

Give more details if MKDP etc got it may be statute barred? if not even if you paid it will show on there for 6 years England/ 5 years Scotland as a true record i.e. defaulted but investigate before panicking? sure others will advise, if it is a true record (sometimes not due to events) then they are under no obligation to remove earlier but if it was statute barred debt i.e. beyond 5 or 6 years then a case you will have.

MKDP is chasing a raft of very old credit card debts at present in the hope that
            people don't understand about limitations.

"Paying it off" will not result in the "default entry" removed, the file would either be marked " partially satisfied or satisfied" under the rules laid down by the Information Commissioners Office. It will remain on file from 6 years from the default date.

I started to respond to this post the other day then noticed the OP had turned into a 'guest'. :noidea:

Somehow I don't think they will be returning.
