Re: Election 2015: Conservative benefit cut options leaked

Just found this ''A 31% flat rate of tax was Ukip's policy at the 2010 general election''

lol. I seem to recall something about doing away with the top rate entirely in this years manifesto?.

In my opinion, if someone knows they are perfectly well, fit and able to work but then claims disability or incapacity benefits, that is fraudulent.
I couldn't care less what advice claimants are given.
It's their claim and they should be held accountable for making it.
The fact that 1 million such claimants withdrew tells a loud story, don't you think?

Re: Election 2015: Conservative benefit cut options leaked

''Of the 600,000 people who have been migrated from Incapacity Benefit over the past two years, only 19,700 had dropped their claim. The figure of 900,000 refers to all those who have made new claims for ESA since its introduction over four years ago, but who have since withdrawn their application before undergoing a face to face assessment. These people weren’t claiming the benefit before and generally drop out the system for perfectly innocent reasons – often they become ill, apply as a precaution, but withdraw when they get better.''

I do not think that claiming anything especially when it is advised by the system is of any cause for concern................

Folks are told to apply/claim & the selection criteria should fall within the organisation to prevent false information becoming used to any bias advantage............for me its the system.

There is a side to our society that is too proud for any sort of claims even if advised & qualified.............but still there has to be a claim.

How does a Jobcentre interviewer know the medical state of a claimant?
Are they telepathic, physicians or spiritualists?
The person who DOES KNOW is the claimant.

By assessing the relevant documentation provided by a professional from diagnosis & checking that data.........as per the system.

Re: Election 2015: Conservative benefit cut options leaked

                  I don't think so.
My understanding is that a person presents themselves at a local Jobcentre and is interviewed about which benefits they wish to claim.
There is completion of a form upon which the claimant specifies which benefits they seek.
If they claim that they are incapacitated, they are given benefit money equivalent to JSA rates for their age, for a period of up to 13 weeks pending assessment.
If the assessment reveals no grounds for an incapacity claim, my opinion is that they should be prosecuted, rather than just told they are ineligible. Why would someone claim more money than they were entitled to, other than to attempt to obtain extra money by deception?

Re: Election 2015: Conservative benefit cut options leaked

I see that we have moved on a lot since yesterday, instead of paying people money we cant afford so they can be out of work lets employ a bigger legal system and use all the money we haven't got on prosecuting them and finding they can't pay the fines and we would have to supply legal aid to help them fight. I suppose it will cut down on the need for council houses when all these fraudsters are in jail we free bed and board.

Re: Election 2015: Conservative benefit cut options leaked

Well the most stupid benefit imho is this http://www.revenuebenefits.org.uk/ta...-credits-work/
Working tax credit, you work you don't earn enough to live on so you get working tax credit, speaks fer itself
Child tax credit if you work have kids and don't earn enough to keep them again self explanatory
Pension credit given if you don't get enough to keep yourself in old age again simples

The millions spent on working out who gets it, working out who has been overpaid and then chasing the overpayments all a waste imho.

So an explanation into just how this is a good thing would maybe help change my mind.

Unfortunately for you meellis, the Private Sector has to pick up the tab for all this money given away by the Public Sector.
I have an opposite view of how to deal with frauds and scroungers, obviously.
                        We're unlikely ever to agree.

Unfortunately you have already made your mind up that they are all fraudsters and scroungers and you have tried them, found them wanting and sent them off to be hung drawn and quartered without any means of defence.

Only the vast number that changed their minds, deciding that they weren't really incapacitated after all.
Once they realised ATOS would assess them.
Maybe you approve of their actions, do you?

How can I approve or disapprove of their actions, I do not know any of their motivations. I think everybody would approve of people of any walk of life being chastised for breaking rules or laws but the majority of people would realise that there is potentially a different reason between each change of mind. Some people just don't like being put under scrutiny even if they have the perfect right to whatever is on offer. Who am I or you to judge these individuals without knowing there reasoning.
