Civil legal aid cuts: media case studies needed
11 March 2015
The LASPO legal aid cuts have resulted in radical consequences for access to justice with the worst impact affecting the most vulnerable sectors of society.
As the consequences of the cuts become more widely known the media are taking a greater interest.
The Law Society continues to highlight the affects on access to justice and is currently working with the BBC to find case studies involving domestic violence, child custody and medical negligence for the Victoria Derbyshire TV programme which launches in April on BBC2 and the BBC News Channel.
The programme is looking for powerful cases studies relating to child custody, medical negligence or domestic violence where individuals were not able to access legal aid.
The journalist would like individuals to tell their story anonymously in a pre-recorded interview with a reporter who would travel to their location.
If you have a suitable case study, please email nicola.beckford@bbc.co.uk by Tuesday 17 March.
The programme airs on 7 April, so the producers would very much appreciate a quick response.
