Re: TV licensing
I know Ame explained this briefly to me over the phone and this is the first chance I`ve had to look into the wording a little more carefully.
Without first seeing what payment plan they send you Ame, I would assume from the text that you pay for your license 26x£5.50=£143 an extra £7.50 on top of the £135.50 normal fee After that you then have the option to begin early payment towards your next years license.
So basically they are asking for you to pay it off in 6 months and charging you £7.50 for the privilege of paying by instalments. Once you have paid that over 6 months then you are fully licensed and exempt from investigation etc.
Your second years license, if you choose, you can start paying towards it early. But unless they stipulate this on the payment plan I don`t think it will be compulsory.
The second license would cost exactly the same but they allow you to pay for it fortnightly instead of weekly(with the same £7.50 instalment charge) bringing you up to date and fully paid up for your second years license within 6 months same as your first years.
To summarise, by paying in this way you have to pay for your TV license within the first six months with an instalment charge of £7.50 per year. I don't th
ink other than having to pay it within the first 6 months they are penalising you for paying in this way, sorry.

If you prefer to pay over the phone, you can do so by credit or debit card.
Initially, you will be asked to make payments on a weekly basis, so you'll pay for your first TV Licence over six months in 26 weekly payments. After this, you can pay towards your next licence in fortnightly payments.
To enjoy the benefit of paying weekly or fortnightly, you must keep up the regular payments as detailed on your payment plan.
