The real problem is that they still have this disconnect between the time a bank goes insolvent, and the time you get your money back... the major cause of the Northern Rock fiasco was that people were gonna be forced into waiting weeks or months for their money. The government should institute the systems necessary to allow banking services to continue even if the bank does not... 7 days is all very well, but some people like to have food with their meal in the interim.
