  • Primary Children are to be recorded as potential criminals in OFFICIAL RECORDS

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2008/mar/16/youthjustice.children

If confirmation, beyond a doubt, were ever needed that this government & its agents want to treat us ALL as criminals then this is it

Can you imagine; kids barely out of their nappies being branded by some over zealous non-entity as criminals in the making.

Who will have access - the police only - I doubt it what with this government’s propensity for flogging everything (DVLA comes to mind) it could be anyone - & when will they lose this data as they lose everything else.

This really is appalling - these morons are running amok & need to be stopped

There is no mention of the government planning it and in point of fact, it states that the person who made the comments was Gary Pugh, DNA spokeperson for the Association of Chief Police Officers. He is supported in his views by many members of the criminologist department at Scotland Yard.
The problem on this one is that there is a case going through the European Court of Human Rights with regards to the DNA database and that people are on there with no criminal record whatsoever.
Whatever your viewpoints on the government the article is nothing to do with them and I am sure you are aware, that because someone may say it is a good idea does not necessarily mean that it will be supported by legislation.

Rubbish This government are involved as they have already muted a very similar idea involving DNA. Blair suggested the taking of DNA at birth & recording 'criminal' tendencies (whatever that means) at a very early age

In addition if they didn't intend to support this thinking how come there are many innocent kids already on the police data base & who's names, together with many adults, they refuse to remove

My opinion has nothing whatsoever to do with my political allegiances & to imply otherwise is a spurious argument

As a matter of fact I, like my Father before me, have been a Labour supporter all my life until I became aware of New Labours true agenda which is to rule at any cost

Those who have been not found guilty of any offence, we both agree should not be on the DNA database.
Link to the case I mentioned about the DNA database.

I think it is a healthy debate but labelling someone based on a profile is not the right way to go about it.
To the right of the link by the way it says governemnt has dismissed idea for national database(that bit was coincidence by the way).
