Jo Chisholm fell victim to a copycat TV licensing website. Mrs Chisholm, 56, said it was only after she had entered her card details and saw that she was being charged almost £300 that she realised she was being duped.

The company, whose web address is televisionlicensing.co.uk as opposed to the official tvlicensing.co.uk, responded to Mrs Chisholm's email stating: "We are a genuine company who provide a service over and above the official television licence website which is clearly stated on our site for which the additional benefits are; possible translation of necessary forms, immediate order confirmation, secure payment system, application checked for omissions and errors, renewal notifications, support from multilingual staff and easy online application

The actual tv licencing site is so easy, what other services do you bloody need - they have a secure payment system, instant confirmation - ffs how many errors can you make applying for a tv licence that it needs checking, its almost impossible NOT to have a tv licence they write to you so often and ring you up every three days because you're £1.50 behind in payments.

It's utter crap that those copycat sites provide 'useful additional services' because they aren't anything anyone needs/wants - they are simply there to syphon off as much money as they can from people who have accidentally ended up on their website.
