  • A spreading disease | New Law Journal

The extent of online fraud has become so significant that only a few weeks ago, the Police Commissioner for the City of London, Adrian Leppard, declared that individuals needed to take more responsibility for online security because, put simply, the police cannot cope. He called for a national campaign to raise awareness as to the […]

“If this were a bacterially viral problem then the lack of ability of our law enforcement agencies to deal with it would be considered a national threat requiring immediate treatment”
The problem, as I see it, is that too many people nowadays are using the internet to store personal information without being aware of just how easy it can be for a PC savvy 'computer-jock' to find a way in.
That along with the so-called 'microsoft scam' (where you get a call from someone saying they have reports of viruses on your computer and asking you to download a programme so they can fix it) makes it hard for anyone to know what's for the best
Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

It doesn't matter where your journey begins, so long as you begin it...

My worry is always what the computer is doing that you are not aware of and the way computer nerds feel we want it to go. I used to have an early windows phone which I liked , I could plug it in to my computer and update everything on outlook either way between phone and computer. When the phone broke I got a new windows mobile and now everything is done through cloud so even when I am sitting next to my computer I cannot update contacts by wire it has to be across the internet. With customers names and details on my phone I am certainly concerned who could hack into these details online and who in the end would be responsible for the breach in their confidentiality. Also when you are online, especially facebook, you notice that the adverts are tailored to your tastes but then you realise you haven't set your tastes anywhere so you know your computer has been trawled for those details.

One thing I can say about this is ...Microsoft will NEVER ring you out of the Blue..................they will only call you if & when you ask them to.............another is download the free editions of Panda Cloud Cleaner & Malwarebytes anti malware security ..................that will give a hell of a lot of protection for free......and everything helps to keep your computer safer.
BUt you must keep your eye on updates they don't update automatically.
