    Dementia-Friendly Financial Services Charter
    30/10/2013

This morning (30 October 2013), the Alzheimer’s Society, together with Lloyds Banking Group, launched their Dementia-Friendly Financial Services Charter – a landmark guide for banks and insurers to help improve the everyday lives of people affected by dementia.
The Charter can be found here.
The British Bankers’ Association has supported the development of this Charter alongside a steering group of 24 other financial services organisations, as well as the Building Societies Association and the Association of British Insurers.
Eric Leenders, Executive Director of Retail Banking of the British Bankers’ Association said:
“As the population ages all aspects of society are having to adapt to the challenges of dementia. The Dementia Friendly Financial Services Charter demonstrates how banks are developing ways to ensure that people with the condition can continue to run their own finances. This work represents a key milestone in the Prime Minister's dementia agenda, and the BBA look forward to continuing their work with the Alzheimer's Society on this important issue".

      Re: Dementia-Friendly Financial Services Charter

This is good news if it is done properly, as I know first hand how the banks often don't know about LPAs and the such at branch level.
I think to have someone in each branch trained especially to deal with this may not happen, but you never know.
Another small step in understanding this problem and how big it will be in the not so distant future, many more steps to be taken but I for one welcome this.
