  • New measures to clamp down on legal aid cheats

    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/n...gal-aid-cheats

New measures launched today will see those criminals who deliberately cheat the system and leave taxpayers to foot their legal aid bill, despite being able to pay, face having their cars seized.

Re: New measures to clamp down on legal aid cheats

Unfortunately, as usual, the Tories are chasing the wrong people or trying to give the impression they are getting tough. They don't kid anyone. The biggest cheats of the Legal Aid system are those with substantial means who plead poverty, conceal their means from the Legal Aid Board and fleece the taxpayer. If Chris Grayling targeted those parasites, the proposals might take on more credibility and the amount of money available for Legal Aid might not be as severely cut back as it has been.
