PENSIONER Grace Hepworth has been left unable to pay her mortgage – because her Huddersfield bank wouldn’t take cash.

Miss Hepworth, 64, has paid her monthly £300 bill in notes for several years.

But she was left stumped this week when a member of staff at the King Street branch of Abbey refused to accept the money.

She said: “There were a lot of people in the branch and I was made to feel like a criminal, like I was trying to pay with counterfeit money.

“I’ve never heard of a bank that won’t accept cash.
