Up to now punters who overspent had to pay a £20 a month fee, plus a £30 charge for each transaction that sent them further into the red. Now the monthly fee has gone up to £25 - but the charge for each transaction will depend on how much you spend.Advertisement
Overspending by less than £10 will land a £5 charge which rises to a maximum £35 fee for those who break the bank by more than £30. The terms and conditions will also be flagged up with big hands pointing to important information.
And these changes all come with a promise that genuine errors that send a customer overdrawn will be overlooked.
So the basic fee is up by £5. You get as low as £30 or as high as £60.
How does a bank determine a genuine error and a blatant chancer?(bank speak there so sorry if you feel offended). This time they have the opportunity to acutally say the terms and conditions are clear to you. WAKEY WAKEY OFT.
