  • What can I do

I'm hoping someone can help me here. I am a beneficiary in my grandfathers estate. He died almost 5 years ago now and I have heard nothing from my aunt who is the Executor of his estate.

I tried contacting her, emailing, phoning and lastly posting her a letter. She replied to my letter asking for my details. I have given this to her. But heard nothing since.

I then decided to contact a English solicitor (because I am based in South Africa) he wrote to her 3 times but she has ignored all his letters.

its been 5 years now and even though the estate is not huge its still my money which rightly belongs to me.

Could you pleases give me the next step, baring in mind I do not want to retain the help of a solicitor as the expense is just to great. Is there anything I can do in my own personal capacity? i.e apply to courts etc. how can I get a copy of the estate accounts.

I have a feeling she has done nothing except sell ,my grandfathers house and pocketed the money.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    many thanks

    Re: What can I do

Hi and welcome, I am assuming this went to probate, I would first off ring the Local Probate Office, the one where your aunt would have dealt with if possible. if not I would ring any and see if they can offer any advice, they do have a complaint procedure, that may be your first option.

You can find out online if probate has been granted: www.gov.uk/search-will-probate
