My father in law, when moved into a care home, passed his share of their house to his wife last October. I don't know the reason for this - possibly to stop, in the longer term, him having to spend the capital to fund his care.
Since then, my step mother in law has contracted terminal cancer. She is not leaving anything to my father in law but is setting up a trust to pay for his care.
She will almost certainly die within 7 years of the transfer of assets. What is the legal situation vis a vis my father in law's share of the house?
Any advice gratefully received.
