A relative has recently died leaving no will. As he was not married, no children, and no living parents, his estate will go to his surviving brother, and the children of his dead brother. (Rules of Intestacy as I understand them.)
The question is, who has the legal right to appoint a solicitor to administer the estate? The surviving brother wishes to appoint a Solicitor, however the neices etc also want to appoint a different Solicitor.
As the surviving brother is the next of kin, surely he should be the one to appoint the Solicitor?
Many thanks
