  • Removing a caveat

    Hello

When an individual enters into a Caveat, but then agrees to remove; how long does it take. I’ve checked online and it says you can do this in writing. My question is there an online form or must the caveator write to the court to request it’s removal. I have read that applying for a caveat is usually approved in one working day but I can’t find anything about timescales for their removal. Thank you.

The caveator wishing to withdraw their caveat should write a letter to the Probate Registry.
The time the registry takes to remove a caveat is not published. I would have thought 7 to 14 days
You could phone the probate helpline for their estimated time

Thank you - that’s helpful. I will call the helpline in the new year. I suspected it would be longer to remove than to enter a caveat.
