Can Executor pay the children of a beneficiary with dementia?

Hello,

I'm in UK. My aunt passed away last year and I am the sole Executor of her estate. I have now been awarded probate.

One of the beneficiaries has dementia and lives at his home with his unmarried daughter (he has 2 children). His wife passed away many years ago. One of his children has texted me requesting payment of his gift be made directly to them (split 50:50). She says they both agree to this. She hasn't said directly I suspect that this is to possibly avoid potential care charges or benefit payments. This makes me uneasy as I don't want to be involved in any funny business!

Can anyone advise what I should reply and do?

You should pay the named beneficiary. It is as simple as that. There may be consequences for you if you do not.
