Recently my dad passed away in his 80's leaving no will and seemingly large debts with no funds/assets available to cover them. He lived in rented accommodation.
Reading through some of the threads here it seems that the best thing would be to ‘step away’ and renounce my rights as an administrator by not stepping forward to apply for ‘the grant of letters of administration ‘
After registering his death I have been given a code to a Government service called ‘Tell us once’.
I am unsure as to how to proceed, in a bid to be helpful should I fill in as much as I know? - basic facts, passport number, National insurance number, and only give contact details as being the next of kin which (they already have on the death certificate), leaving the executor/administrator section blank
or state that no ‘next of kin’ will be stepping forward to administrate
or should I not send the ‘Tell us Once’ form in at all.
I do not want to get drawn in as ‘personally representing’ the ‘Estate “ in any way
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you
