  • Dealing with a monetary trust via a probate. A solicitor is my trustee

    Hello everyone

I had a bad relationship with my late mother (wont go into detail but she was very abusive to me in my childhood and to a lesser degree into adolescence and beyond). My dad was the sole earner in my family. When he died, control of his assets passed to my mother who decided to seize this newly found authority to the hilt. We had an irreconcilable fallout 12 years ago. She left my siblings their share of the wealth (in a trust where my siblings are trustees). My mother tried to freeze me out completely however my father (in his wisdom) assigned me a reasonable portion of money, but didnt decalre me as trustee. My siblings didnt want to get involved in the complexities of the situation my mother caused and so agreed unilateraly to pass on my section of the trust to a solicitor and make him the trustee. However twice I have tried to contact him in the past (once last august and again 2 days ago) as I had assigned him as countersignatory for my passport photo for renewal. When I have pursued and asked for an answer my solicitor claims that the home office for some reason rejected his application. I have contacted HMPO, they claim no such interaction happened.

I have lost confidence in my solicitor. I have been told by someone that I do exercise the right to dismiss him and assign another solicitor instead.

Given the situation ongoing worldwide between Israel and Palestine, and now the conflict between Israel and Iran, I am fearful of a larger scale war. Im driven to this decision because the trust setup foisted onto me was because of the spitefullness of my mother, coupled now by my lack of faith in my solicitor. Any advice you can give is appreciated.
