Hello, my estranged husband passed away over 3 years ago. My husbands friend is executor, but he asked the solicitor to deal with everything. Probate was granted in September 21 and I am a beneficiary along with my late husbands new partner. My husbands estate mainly consisted of his property which sold in June 2022. I have since received an interim payment but I am still owed in excess of £40,000. I was sent a copy of the estate accounts in February this year and the day after receiving them I made the mistake of asking how the IHT had been calculated which resulted in the solicitor saying she was going to apply for an amendment of IHT/probate as the house had sold for less than expected. Also, my husbands new partner had withdrawn £700 from his personal account 10 days after he died and the executor or solicitor dont know why. She has been paid out her share of the inheritance, has left the country and wont answer their calls/emails. I have said this should have been looked into and deducted from her inheritance if necessary, not taken from the estate, ie my money. Every time I phone the secretary tells me she will tell the solicitor I have called. I cant get any response to my emails. Its now 17 months since the house sold and theyre sitting on my money. What can I do?
