  • How to record monthly donations to charities on IHT403

I am currently looking through the probate process to produce some example forms for my children when they need to execute my estate.

I make small monthly donations to a number of charities, but I don't see an option on the IHT403 form to record monthly donations and a yearly total. It only allows single date donations. Over 7 years that would imply over 500 separate entries! And every single one would claim exemption with the charity name and reference data.

Surely I have misunderstood something. Can anyone help?

I can't find any gov uk explanatory notes that cover this problem
You can't put over 500 separate gifts on the form
I would put the dates for the last 7 years in the 1st column (ie 7 years before date of death until date of death)
The name of the charity in the 2nd column
In the 3rd column i would put the number of payments at the cash value of each payment (e.g. 84 payments @ £??)
Charity exemption in the 4th column
The total value to the charity in the 5th column (A)
6th column (B) would be the same figure as (A) for gifts to charity
    7th column (A - B) = 0

What a waste of time -If I'm right

I wrote " You can't put....." Sorry it won't be you that fills in the form, I should have said "The executors can't put....".

HMRC can only be interested in non qualifying charities, charities that are not registered in the UK or EEA. If all the charities OP makes gifts to are registered, then listing over 500 gifts really would be a waste of time.
